She opened a gallery in London in 1938, and her gallery in America, the Art of this Century Gallery, was a showplace for Surrealist work from those artists residing in the United States during the war. She was married to Max Ernst between 1942 and 1945. She owns a famous private collection, which she stores in Venice. The collections was on exhibit in London in 1965 and in Paris in 1974.
