Lacan was a psychoanalyst whose style is a mixture between the poet Mallarme and Sigmund Freud. Lacan's medical thesis, published in 1932, was entitled "Paranoia Considered in its Relation to Personality" (originally published in French). This work was of great interest to the Surrealists.
